The entertainment extravaganza, BET Experience Africa kicks off at the Coco cola dome in Johannesburg on Saturday.
Organisers have roped in international heavyweights like Maxwell, Mary J. Blige, Raphael Saadiq and Young Thug.
They’ll perform along with Africa’s very own. Dubbed the ultimate lifestyle event, BET Africa is in South Africa for the first time.
The BET Experience Africa is a celebration of urban culture, through music, fashion and comedy.
Dubbed the biggest urban lifestyle experience on the continent. Organisers are expecting thousands at the 12-hour festival.
Headliners include internationally acclaimed artists like Maxwell, Mary J Blige, Raphael Saadiq and Young Thug.
“If you’re fan you can expect the Mary J Blige hits, songs that we grew up on together – songs I created a movement on, the my life album, what’s the 411 album – we gon go there and we gon have a good time,” said Mary J. Blige.
They’ll be joined by some of the continent’s firm favourites, AKA, Black Motion, Nigeria’s Flavour and Tanzania’s Diamond Platinumz.
“We’ve been busy putting in some work this week – we don’t wanna make any promises that we can’t keep buts it’s not a secret that me and Diamond have been working on music together – we’ll see what happens,” said SA Rapper, AKA.
